Trimming an Undercut Double Footring (for Hanging) on huge Platter on the Wheel- Part 2

This is a follow-up video to my video I posted a week ago about throwing a huge 18 lb platter from two hunks of clay. See Link to that video here: https://youtu.be/NApvWYFXkVo

The thrown platter was around 22 inches when wet- and has now shrunk for this video to be a little over 18" in width, so it doesn't actually fit on the biggest bat I have for trimming. Although there are options available for holding an upside down leatherhard form which is too big for a bat... (Such as a giant chum) I am using one of the most awesome gadgets by Giffin Grip. The Jumbo Platter Extender just fits on top of my Giffin Grip, and using the long slider arms, it brilliantly supports the pot's rim while securing it with the same mechanism which the Giffin Grip is known for.

In this video, I try to give some of my most helpful tips I can to aid people in understanding the ins and outs of successfully cutting a foot with an undercut for hanging on a hook. I also add some holes at the end that could be used to create wire loops for hanging.

Slow drying is essential for any piece- but never so important on big pieces like this. You want the piece to dry evenly, and slow drying is really the safest way to accomplish that. I use an old bath towel thrown over the piece to hold in moisture, while allowing it to dry.

The difference is the one in the video has more of a curved triangle instead of a straight triangle!
