" The owner of the house where we came was called Edgar. Despite his intimidating appearance, he turned out to be a rather kind and friendly man. The first thing he did was offer me tea and a rug for Buddy to warm up by the fireplace. Edgar's house was more like a hut, everything here was old, furniture, interior, doors and windows. It was clear that this house was built a long time ago. We sat down at the table with him, drank tea, and continued our dialogue. He asked: “So how did you get here, how did you get to the village, since the road is abandoned? Do you even know where you are now?” - “No, not really, but what kind of village is this?” I answered. Edgar looked at me with a surprised face and wanted to say something important, but suddenly something stopped him. Then he continued: “Okay, forget it. Since you need help, you will spend the night here in my house today. But tomorrow early in the morning you will need to leave as early as possible. And don’t ask me why, just trust me. Yes, and also, do not go outside under any circumstances. Give me the keys to the car, I will drive it to a safe and inconspicuous place." All this was very strange for me, even a little mysterious. But since I was in Edgar’s house, I had to listen to him, especially since he inspired trust. I handed him the keys, he took them and left. He was gone for about 20 minutes. Then he came covered in snow, with an armful of firewood in his hands. “It’s cold today, I haven’t seen such snowfall for a long time.” - he said and poured out the wood near the fireplace. Then he led me to the room where dog Buddy and I would spend the night. The room was cramped, but very cozy and warm. “We’ll have dinner soon, for now you settle down, I’ll call you.” He lit the fireplace and went into the kitchen. I was very tired, and lay down on a soft bed with a duvet. Buddy the dog also climbed onto the bed, lay down next to him and fell asleep. The fireplace that was burning nearby warmed me, and the crackling sounds of the firewood calmed me down and made me want to sleep. I thought that at dinner I should ask Edgar who he is, and what secret this village keeps. But having drifted off into my thoughts, I didn’t notice how sweetly I fell asleep.
