Spoken book: Wittgenstein "On Certainty" | Remarks # 1 – 136

A book of remarks first published in 1969 by Ludwig's estate as his last work done in philosophy; it was written when he was age 60 & 61 and done in response to G.E. Moore's essays that rebut skeptics of human knowledge. Moore says he "knows" he has two hands, for example, and that the earth existed long before his birth, and that he was never on the moon. Ludwig uses his signature method of grounding Moore's use of language in our actual language game as a criteria of its correctness, and in so doing, Moore's wording is improved upon. This is Wittgenstein on epistemology – how to talk about knowledge, mistake, belief, doubt, and 'certainty', the topic that obsessed his mentor Bertrand Russell when Russell was young and sought to put math on a secure foundation. This audio book, part 1 of it, is released on the anniversary of Wittgenstein's birthday, April 26, 1889. He would be age 134 today. He died on April 29, 1951, three days after turning 62.
