In this beautiful Ukrainian folk song, a Dream asks Sleep "Where will we spend the night?" - my heart goes out to all those displaced by this senseless war who suddenly find themselves asking the same question.

"The Dream Passes by the Window" ... a song to bring comfort... and peace.

I don't really know what to write - I guess it's better to let my piano do the talking. I hope this is helpful in some small way.

I did want to share something I read while researching this song ... apparently George Gershwin was deeply moved upon hearing this lullaby in a performance by the Koshetz Ukrainian National Choir at Carnegie Hall in 1929 .. Four years later he composed his song "Summertime" which has a very similar opening melody.

The popular Christmas song "Carol of the Bells" is also originally a Ukrainian folksong "Shchedryk"

I think it's important to be reminded that our different cultures... our stories... our music... can influence and inspire each other ... that we can learn from our differences and connect through what we have in common.
