Lighting using a Reflector - Photography Tutorial
One of the things I recommend anyone to have when you first start your photography journey is REFLECTOR! They're probably one of the most affordable pieces of equipment for photography with prices ranging from $15 to as high as you can go. You can even DIY one!
Having a reflector can teach you a LOT about manipulating light to get your ideal result. Normally, when you get a reflector, it will also come with a diffuser (something to soften harsh light). They're great for improving your portraits, product shots...basically anything which requires light. Reflectors don't need electricity, plus they're lightweight and relatively compact. While I don't ALWAYS use my reflector, I do carry it with me when I'm on a shoot, especially because I rarely work with artificial lighting. The reflector I'm using in this video has 5 sides: white, gold, black, silver, silver with gold zigzags, blue and green, and a diffuser; and I show you how to use the 5 reflectors (the blue and green are used as green screens, while the diffuser is used to soften light, not to bounce light). Even if you've never used a reflector for photography, it's SUPER EASY to learn. All you have to do is to find the source of light, hold the reflector in a position to be able to "catch" the light, and then re-direct that light to your subject. And last of all, you DON'T need a DSLR camera to get the benefits of a reflector. You can use a mobile camera, a point-and-shoot camera, a gopro...you can use ANY camera, because reflectors are not about the camera that you're using - reflectors are about playing with light.
This is a simple lighting "hack" to improve your photography forever!
