Why teams using AI still make poor business decisions

Many organisations are encouraging teams to use AI. But AI adoption does not automatically create better business decisions.

AI can summarise documents, draft requirements, generate options, analyse processes, and support reporting. But it cannot compensate for weak business analysis.

If your team cannot define the business problem, understand stakeholder needs, identify process gaps, assess risk, or connect work to strategic outcomes, AI will not solve the problem. It will simply accelerate shallow thinking.

For example, asking AI to “improve a process” is not enough. The team must know what problem the process is creating, who is affected, what risk exists, what outcome matters, and what level of human review is required. That is why AI Business Analysis is now becoming a corporate capability issue.

The best organisations will not simply train people to prompt. They will train teams to combine business judgement, data-informed thinking, process analysis, risk awareness, and responsible AI use.

If your organisation is using AI but your project decisions are not improving, the issue may not be the tool. It may be the team’s analysis capability.
