The Snake I Rescued Gave Birth to 25 Babies in My House...

So the northern water snake I found injured outside and have been rehabilitating just gave birth to 25 baby snakes in my house! WAS NOT EXPECTING THIS. Water snakes are viviparous, meaning they give live birth, as opposed to a lot of other snake species that lay eggs. The babies were really cute though and it was a cool thing to experience. Also a reminder: if you find injured wildlife, please contact a local wildlife officer and try to find a registered wildlife rehabber in your area. Many states have strict laws and taking in wildlife is illegal. If you aren't properly trained you can end up doing more harm than good. We have a permit to keep this snake, but we are only keeping her until she is healed enough to be released.
