After narrowly missing the chance to etch his name in Hungarian history during his previous two World Championship appearances, Musukaev orchestrated a stunning career turnaround with his performance in Belgrade.

The 65kg weight saw Musukaev triumphantly seize the world title, overcoming the defending champion and the reigning Olympic gold medalist. In a defining moment in Belgrade, Musukajev became Hungary’s second-ever world champion, bringing an end to a 44-year freestyle world title drought dating back to 1979.
