Inspire action: change the world and save a life in a moment | Ashish R. Panchal | TEDxColumbusSalon
Imagine a world where the societal norm is that we act when something is wrong! It sounds easy to take action and help other people, but too often we stand on the sidelines. In this actionable talk, Dr. Ashish R. Panchal shares his research on bystander CPR and how anyone can become a hero in our own stories and act to change the world or save a life. Ashish R. Panchal, MD, PhD is a Professor of Emergency Medicine who is passionate about improving the life-saving care given to patients prior to arriving to the hospital. His research focuses on improving prehospital cardiac arrest as well as defining the risks faced by EMS professionals while providing high quality care. He is also a volunteer leader of the American Heart Association's Emergency Cardiovascular Care Scientific Subcommittee and is the Chair of the 2020 AHA Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care. These guidelines provide the structure for CPR training of over 16 million people per year. Through Dr Panchal’s work, he pioneers new and innovative techniques to ensure the understanding, implementation, and refinement of best practices for lay bystanders and health care professionals. Dr. Panchal speaks regularly on cardiac arrest care and has given talks throughout the United States and to global audiences. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
