Trinities Episode 36 - How Jesus Became God P2

Dr. Dale Tuggy is the host and co-executive producer of Trinities.org podcast, which hosts debates, interviews, and historical and contemporary perspectives. Dale interviews Bart on April 14th, 2014 via telephone, asking questions in review of Bart's book "How Jesus Became God: The Exaltation of a Jewish Preacher from Galilee." The discussion bypasses what other interviews consider, and moves immediately into Bart's more controversial conclusions, and how he arrived at them. Dale probes questions like, Is the author of John confused about Jesus and God? Does he think that two different beings -- the Father, and the man Jesus -- are numerically the same as the one true God? What about Bart's claim that Matthew, Mark, and Luke considered Jesus to be a lesser god, while John has a notably "higher" christology?

Bart D. Ehrman is the James A. Gray Distinguished Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He came to UNC in 1988, after four years of teaching at Rutgers University. At UNC he has served as both the Director of Graduate Studies and the Chair of the Department of Religious Studies. A graduate of Wheaton College (Illinois), Professor Ehrman received both his Masters of Divinity and Ph.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary, where his 1985 doctoral dissertation was awarded magna cum laude.

Dr. Dale Tuggy is a Professor of Philosophy at SUNY Fredonia, where he teaches courses in analytic theology, philosophy of religion, religious studies, and the history of philosophy. He obtained his Ph.D. at Brown University.
