A reciprocating pump is a class of positive-displacement pumps that includes the piston pump, plunger pump, and diaphragm pump. Well maintained, reciprocating pumps can last for decades. Unmaintained, however, they can succumb to wear and tear.
What is reciprocating pump working principle?
The reciprocating pump is a positive displacement pump, it operates on the principle of actual displacement or pushing of liquid by a piston or plunger that executes a reciprocating motion in a closely fitted cylinder. The liquid is alternatively drawn from the pump and filled into suction side of the cyliner.
What is an example of a reciprocating pump?
Following are the some important examples of reciprocating pumps. Eg-: Hand pumps, oil pumps, water pumps, piston pumps etc.
Why it is called reciprocating pump?
Reciprocating pumps are also called positive displacement pumps or piston pumps because of the use of a piston or plunger during pumping. The delivery pressure of this pump is usually quite significant, and a small quantity of liquid is handled.
Application of Reciprocating pumps, are as follows:
Vessel, pipe, tank, tube, condensate pipe, heat exchanger etc. ...
Oil drilling, refineries, production, disposal, injections.
Pneumatic pressure applications.
Vehicle cleaning.
Sewer line cleaning.
Wet sandblasting.
Boiler feeding.
What is a reciprocating pump called?
Force pumps are also called reciprocating pump
What material is reciprocating pump?
Rotating reciprocating piston pumps consist of three wetted components: the piston, cylinder case and cylinder liner. Pistons can be constructed from ceramic (alumina), stainless steel, or zirconia. The cylinder case can be made from PVDF (fluorocarbon), 316 stainless steel, Teflon® (PTFE) or Tefzel® (ETFE).
Which valve is used in reciprocating pump?
The valve disc is also a key component in the reciprocating pump hydraulic end and its main role is to make the suction valve and discharge valve alternately connected or separated in the hydraulic cylinder, thus controlling the drilling fluid flow in one direction. Pump valve disc is also a wearing part.
