Mastering Digital Pipelines - Texture Artist Natsumi Nishi

Cogswell student Natsumi Nishi speaks about her role in an upcoming production that bundles an animated short film with an interactive book into and iPad app.

Transcription:

Currently I'm a texture artist in the Star Thief Studio.

So I work with programs such as Maya, and Mudbox.
Obviously, I get directions from the
director on what he wants the visual look of, certain objects and props
in the scene to be. I also work with many of the new people who come in to
Star Thief Studio.
Many of them are not quite sure what they
wanna be yet, what their role is gonna be. So their first step is
to either do some texturing of models or actually modeling, props and objects
in the scene. So first I'll guide them through what our pipeline is.
At times introduce them to other people who may mentor them later
on and also guide them through the programs.

And if they have any problems with the programs, I'll help them as best as I can
or guide them to other studio members. To
be honest, I had no knowledge of texturing in 3D at all before coming
into the studio. It was a fresh start for me it was the first time ever being in a
project like this. Working with other talented artists.

I'll be very excited, we've been working very hard.
And when we first showed the teaser trailer to the school
we had a lot of positive feedback. I believe that the end product will be something quite spectacular.
