‘The Adelaide Set’ founder George Mamalis says the “main message” when it comes to hiring firefighters should be “competence.
This comes amid the Victorian firefighters’ union has asked for more money to create more gender diversity within the industry.
“I’m sure there are plenty of females out there who are brave enough to do this job, but at the end of the day, that shouldn’t be the main message,” Mr Mamalis told Sky News host Freya Leach.
“Symbolism over substance is just deadly.”
