Brutal Snow & Freezing Rain on the Appalachian Trail

This is days 101&102 of the border to border calendar year triple crown.

With some bad weather rolling in we did a couple shorter days. Rather than taking a couple zeroes we just got out there and went as far as we could.

On day 101 we did 20 miles and slack packed back to Delaware Water Gap. Then stayed the night there for the 2nd time.

On day 102 we woke up to about 4 inches of fresh snow! But my buddy Road Soda came out to support us, and the timing couldn’t have been better.

It was a brutal start to the day and was really slow going. We got soaking wet and it was way too cold to stop moving.

Luckily my friend was there to support us. So we managed to make it 18 miles for the day. Then got a ride to a nearby motel to get warm and dry for the night.

I’m just glad we got any mileage in at all!
