ASMR My Oldest Watches (soft-spoken show-and-tell, ticking, metal sounds)

Hello friends! Welcome to the beginning of our second year together. I'm looking forward to another year of this journey with you - let's see where it takes us. :-)

Join me for a patient show-and-tell video, in which I show you the oldest pocket watches in my very small collection. They are a trio of watches from the Illinois Watch Company, made during the company's first full year of watch production, 1872 (the company was called the Springfield Watch Company then).

We'll take close looks at each movement and case, talk about the difference between hunter and open-face watches, and look at how watches like these are wound and set. We'll even look briefly at a T-bar watch chain (the kind you would wear with a vest), and finally close the video by listening to the heartbeat of a 145-year-old movement as it ticks faithfully away.

This video contains the following triggers: soft speaking, detailed and deliberate hand movements and object handling, and various mechanical, metal, ticking and clicking sounds.
