5 WAYS TO Make MONEY From Farmland | Farming Business in Nigeria | Greenhills Cassava Farmstead
This video is about How To Make Money From Farmland In Nigeria. #Investments
Have you ever considering using family land, you already own to make money. So many Nigerians send money home from the diaspora or send money back from their city job in Nigeria back to the family.
Many of us already have family land that no one is using, but is just a part of family assets. Why is this land stagnant? Why is no one using it? If you have family land, tell us below why aren’t you using it?
The money you could make from that farmland can support the family needs, pay for schooling for several family members, pay for medical bills for your grandma, and pay other expenses that constantly pop up in Nigeria.
Some of us belong to unreasonable family clans so we know getting permission may be a struggle or just impossible due to family politics.
So many people want to invest in their family someone how isn't this a great step. Give yourself a reasonable timeline, perhaps use the land for five years max. If it doesn’t work out, you haven’t lost anything but some capital and some time and energy. Start small although, with the current security situation with the herdsmen encroaching on farmland, you will have to spend money on security for the farmers or money fencing in your farmland. So consider that.
The easiest way to get started is to rent your land to farmers around the area. Let farmers around use it. You can act as a landlord and the farmer (your tenant) pays you a fixed naira amount per acre per year for the right to farm your land. This is a nice start because honestly, you don’t have to do anything. Have you ever rented out land for farming?
The second way to make money is that you hire farmers to grow crops on your land and pay them a set fee. You may have to provide and maintain your farming equipment, seed, fertilizer, pesticides, etc., but you also keep 100% of the profit. This can be especially profitable in years with great harvests. HOWEVER, during harvest season you or a TRUSTED family member needs to be on the ground. This is where money can disappear. This is so important, this is not an option, you must be present during harvest.
