Bringing the Harvest Home 1966 - Stuart James Wright

My latest folk rock song inspired by my time growing up on the farm. Featuring original 1966 footage of the family harvesting. Available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music. Amazon etc. Visit www.stuartwright.co.uk for more songs and vids.

The corn is high, the sun is out burning off the dew
Takes me back to a time in life when all my world was new
And if the truth is known we were innocent and good
And the seeds were sown under a blanket of love

These were the days of our lives
We are the sons of the vale
Hard work and Yorkshire pride
Is bringing the harvest home

Brother Neil, Adi too, Uncle John and his baling crews
Father's drying out in the shed, Mother's making sure he's fed

And with one eye out for the weather we get the barley in
And a feast is sure to follow if the rain begins.

Home is where everyone cared
We all had nothing but it was shared

These were the days of our lives
We are the sons of the vale
Hard work and Yorkshire pride
Is bringing the harvest home

Home home again that where I'm going to be
In an endless summertime and your will be with me.

And with one eye out for the weather we'll get the barley in
And a feast is sure to follow, if the rain begins

These were the days of our lives
We are the sons of the vale
Hard work and Yorkshire pride
Is bringing the harvest home
