The Basics of Mechanical Seals

This video is a very brief overview of the basics of Mechanical Seals and their operation.

They are used primarily in pumps to allow a rotary shaft to protrude from a housing but still seal around the gap between both of these parts. They comprise stationary and static face made from high grade carbon composites and a stainless steel spring and body.
