" Bryan Kohberger appears in court in suit and tie as attorney for family of Idaho murder victim Kaylee Goncalves begs judge to lift gag order that stops them from speaking to the media. A judge overseeing Bryan Kohberger's quadruple murder trial refused to decide today whether or not he will lift a gag order that the Idaho murder victims' families say prevents them from speaking about the case. Kohberger appeared in Latah County Court in a black suit, blue shirt and tie Friday for the hearing. His attorneys want the gag order to remain in place for the duration of his trial. He will go to court in October accused of murdering Kaylee Goncalves, Maddie Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin in Idaho in November last year. Today, his attorneys appealed to the judge to keep the order in place, claiming it is one of the only ways to ensure a fair trial. The order prevents the families and attorneys on both sides from talking specifically about the case to the media. The Goncalves family - and the media - is fighting the order. Judge John Judge today did not make a decision. He said he will release a written decision after weighing both sides' arguments.
Kohberger is also asking that cameras be banned from the courtroom when he goes to trial.
In legal papers this week, his team claimed he was being unfairly scrutinized on social media, where his body language is discussed at length. He complained in a filing this week that his body language was being over-analyzed on social media and could impact the case. Kohberger is expected at both hearings today.
