---------------------------------

all right a quick tutorial on
three-person mechanics
the introduction
of the mechanics changed last year where
the lead official would switch and
become tableside has created a lot of
confusion with certain officials and I
just wanted to lay out a simple primer
on how to handle fouls going from the
back court to the front court with no
free throws.

it's all relatively straightforward so again we're referring to three-person mechanics a foul with the ball going from the back court to the front court with no free throws.
this would include all offensive fouls in
that team's front court this would include defensive fouls or
fouls by the defending team on rebounds
or we're going the other direction so a
foul in the backcourt is treated the
same as a violation a bump may be
necessary but there is no switching
unless the foul is called by the lead
official if the foul is called by the
lead official the official in the lead
position then the lead will report and
go tableside switching with the official
who had been tableside this is our basic
principles for how we're going to look
at subsequent plays Kahless looks at
some examples all right player drives to
the basket pushes off foul called by the
trail official three-person ball will be
going the other way right and line throw
in will be handled by the lead official
who become the new trail the trail
official will go report
and the trail would become the new lead
there is no switching that occurs this
is all very straightforward another
example player control foul called by
the center official it will have a
resulting inline throw-in at the spot
over here by the are in Sacramento the
lead will become the new trail and
administer the throw in the center
official will get bumped and become the
new lead at the other end and the trail
would stay and be the center on the
resulting throwing
great call another example
sounds a little off but team control
foul by blue pushing called by the
center official okay
there will be no switching on this play
but we will bump the trail official
would handle the throw in the center
official would become a good go report
and become the new lead down there
alright another play charge called by
the center official with the resulting
throw in will be here by the D and
Thunderbirds the old lead will become
the new trail at a minister the throw in
the center official goes reports and
becomes the new lead and the trail
official not visible would stay and be
the center for the resulting throwing
another example charge called by the
center official resulting throw in the
old lead will become the new trail and
minister the throw in here at the E in
wolves the center official will go
report and become the new lead the trail
official not visible would stay and
become the C for the resulting throwing
and Welch Palma gets called for it show
all right lead in rotation as the charge
call the throwing will be on the end
line lead will report and switch with
the tableside official who will become
the new trail for the resulting throwing
calling official will stay tableside and
be the new see and the trail on the play
would go deep and become the new lead
for the resulting throwing transition
play rebounding foul called by the lead
made the call as the lead lead will
switch with the tableside official and
stay tableside tableside official will
switch with the lead and have the
resulting throw-in again these are our
basics crew moving in slow motion but
they got it right charge called by the
official in which position in the lead
position so we know that if we make the
call from the lead we're gonna switch
with the table side official the
tableside official in this instance is
the see the resulting throw in the sea
