DEFA Termini II 1200W no fan spin repair (failed diode)

Probably a common issue, and an easy fix as long as the PTC heater doesn't kill itself in the process. The failure is the SR5010 secondary side rectifier diode in the fan power supply. I recommend replacing it with some 40 V or higher rated, 10 amp TO220 diode, since the original part runs extremely hot.

The fan draws about 2.5 amps under normal operation, but up to 3 amps under load. The original diode is very undersized.
