📌 Info by Sharin Broni (Ranger DOC) :
Toroa egg laying has been completed and much candling and laying of irrigation lines has been done.

45 eggs were laid, although 2 are infertile and 1 had broken before the daily ranger check at the nest. This is an expected number for this part of the biennial cycle of toroa breeding.

A new site for the Royalcam has been chosen, we are now working out the logistics of cam moving and upgrading so we have the IR light back for night viewing. We will announce cam moving day as information becomes available. The live stream will be off during the changeover to the new site.

We are sure that it will be worth the wait. The experienced cam pair of LGK and LGL are back at Top Flat having raised Karere in 2019 and Tiaki in 2021.

LGL did not lay an egg last season, so they are out of sync with the biennial breeding cycle. This year LGL laid an egg on the 7th November and it is fertile.
Having 2 nests on view for the whole season is new on Royalcam and will provide more viewing opportunities and a close look at how pairs close together behave.
