Trump said he had held “excellent conversations” with Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun and Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and that they had agreed to formally begin a ceasefire.

The ceasefire announcement comes as Iran and the US are weighing a two-week extension of their ceasefire, which is set to expire next week, and would allow the sides more time to negotiate a formal peace deal.
