PIP 4048MS Restart SOLVED

The PIP inverter died yesterday morning and it appeared to be just broken for no reason. Here's what happened, why, and what we did. I apologize for the music bed overpowering the narration. Thus was a quick and dirty video.

The Problem: The inverter was running heavy loads in early morning (coffee pot, saw, charger, etc), causing the battery voltage to dip below the "safe" operating voltage (47.2V) of the inverter. When that occurred, the inverter went into a mode where it shuts off even though the power switch is on. When we would power cycle the inverter, the battery voltage was not above the "good mark (51.5V) - the voltage was 49.7V.

Other issues: When the inverter shut off, the MPPT charger would not re-engage. This could have been resolved by simply turning off then on the breaker to the PV panels. I took the inverter to my house and attached it to my system, and it immediately came up fine because my battery voltage was 55.8V. When I took it back to Duane's installation, even though the voltage was still below 51.5V, it came up because it's last battery voltage state at my house was a good one. The 49.7V was still above the shutoff voltage so nothing was considered as critical voltage-wise.

Fix that should have been implemented:
1. We should have simply thrown all breakers (battery, PV) off for about 10 minutes to give adequate time for capacitors to discharge.
2. Turned on the battery breaker.
3. Turned on the PV breaker (in that order). At this point the MPPT would start charging the batteries.
4. Once the voltage went above the 51.5V threshold, the inverter would have started.

Duane and I still love the inverter. It continues to be rock solid, already surviving several electrical storms with no issues at all. It is physically smaller than my own inverter, and weighs about 10lbs as opposed to the 70lbs of my inverter. Isn't technology a wonderful thing?
