Herbie Hancock sits in with Chick, Stanley Clarke, Hubert Laws and Marcus Gilmore

Chick's LA residency with his quartet (Stanley Clarke on bass; Hubert Laws on flute; Marcus Gilmore on drums) went truly over the top when Herbie Hancock dropped by (on his birthday!) to sit in with the band. In true Chick & Herbie style, there was no plan. The brilliant flight of improvisation can only be called "Catalina Blues" after the Catalina Jazz Club where it all went down. April 2013.
