The snow trains, once a living ritual in Mt. Washington Valley, taking skiers from Boston, Massachusetts to points up north, one of those being North Conway, New Hampshire, a skiing town. Every winter, the Boston & Maine Railroad would run streamlined passenger trains to and from these points, and they were highly profitable for the B&M. The trains ran from 1931 to 1971, running multiple trains per day. These trains were initially successful, but like many other special runs like the Rockingham Racer on the Boston & Maine, these trains fell by the wayside, and started being operated by Budd RDC cars like so many trains had before it. The last snow train ran over the Conway Branch, back to Boston, in late 1971.

However that tradition which brought thousands upon thousands to the White Mountains lives on at the Conway Scenic Railroad. They continue the ritual of running multiple trains a day, but this time running from North Conway to Attitash Mountain Resort.
