Do Stingrays Have Faces? | Azula

Do Stingrays Have Faces? | Check out the cute face on this stingray! Just kidding! Those black spots are actually nostrils, not eyes. Stingray eyes sit on top of their bodies ... while their mouths, nostrils and gills skim the seafloor. Scientists aren't exactly sure why stingray eyes sit where they do. Rays use electrical sensors while hunting for prey -- the same sensors sharks use. So rays don't really need their eyes while looking for snacks hiding in the sand. Their nostrils sure make for a cute optical illusion, though.
