Hokkien Mee (福建炒麵) - Malaysian Street Food

This video shows a street restaurant in the Chinatown area of Kuala Lumpur and the making of Hokkien mee ( Hokkien char mee or just char mee) which is a Malaysian dish that has it's origins in the cuisine of China's Fujian (Hokkien) Province.

Hokkien char mee (Hokkien fried noodles; 福建炒麵) is served in Kuala Lumpur and the surrounding region while variants include Penang Hokkien mee (with prawns and broth) and Singapore Hokkien mee. It is a dish of thick yellow noodles braised in thick dark soy sauce with pork, fish balls and cabbage as the main ingredients and cubes of pork fat fried until crispy.
