So my friend was having her wash day and she said she was trying to detangle with a cornstarch hair mask. She said it cut her detangling time down so you already know I just had to try it.

If you have been following me then you'll know it's been a good 7-weeks since I washed my hair and that is NEVER a thing for me. So not only is my hair super dirty and disgustingly dry it was 100% tangled and mangled lol.

This video is a detailed account of my experience detangling my 7-week old hair lol.

So for the hair potion as I affectionately call it, you will need the following:
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup water ( tap water lol)
1 tbsp cornstarch ( I used whatever brand I had in the house)
1 tsp oil ( I used a light olive oil)
A small pot and your stove lol

METHOD:

1. Bring water and cornstarch to a boil, and allow the cornstarch to cook. I was continuously stirring the mixture so it didn't stick at the bottom.

2. When the mixture was almost cooked ( to my preference) I added the oil, then removed from heat and stirred to incorporate.

3. I let it cool (overnight) not because I wanted to wait that long, but I wasn't able to wash my hair right then and there. So let your mixture cool to a temperature that you are comfortable with for your application.
THINGS TO NOTE :
1. I found this to be moisturizing ( maybe it's in my head lol ) but LOOK AT MY CURLS
2. My hair felt soft and supple ( super SOFT) with the cornstarch and after the washout
3. Application for me was a little on the messy side, because the mixture was like a loose jelly substance so I legit had to slap it into my hair then rub.
4. I found the mixture was odorless, but I guess this all depends on your oil type and if you add anything else into this mixture. I KEPT IT SIMPLE
5. I found it easier to finger detangle my hair using this method vs conditioners. I don't normally finger detangle I go straight to them combs baby lol
6. Post wash, my hair felt light, I saw more curl definition and that's a good wash day for me lol
