Jupiter & Saturn Conjunction - December 21, 2020 @ 6p CST

Join us for live views and discussion about the close conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn on December 21, 2020. Not since July 1623 have these two gas giant planets appeared so close to each other in Earth's skies. We will also feature views of the Moon and the planet Mars, which is still relatively nearby from its close pass by Earth this past October.

We will utilize telescopes at the Frank N. Bash Visitors Center located at McDonald Observatory. The views will show Jupiter and Saturn in the same telescopic field of view as well as replicate how the event appears to the human eye.

The host for this program is Kevin Mace, teamed with co-hosts Frank Cianciolo and Stephen Hummel. Moderators in the live chat will be taking questions, and program hosts will answer some of them during the program.

Can't make the live stream? This event will be recorded and remain on our channel.

McDonald Observatory is an astronomical research facility located in far west Texas, and is part of the University of Texas at Austin.
