This is really high production Thai Lakorn style... But is not like this is anything new to Thai audiences. The first time a Thai Lakorn deal with this issues goes back to 2013 with the Channel 3 Lakorn "Madam Dun มาดามดัน" (aka madam Pushy), starring Mario Maurer (as NEXT) together with Ploy Chermarn (Madam DUN aka Pushy). That Lakorn showed for the first time the contradictions between the actors private lives and love relationships and their media pairings... with the fans pushing for the actors couples on films and dramas to become couples in real live as well. This is a real excellent Thai social critical drama with an amazing Mario Maurer in the lead role, with his very first on film screen female partner Ploy Chermarn, who worked together with him as his sister in the BL Film "Love of Siam". Mario Maurer have said that the script and filming process of this Lakorn helped him to liberate himself from his media pairing with BAIFERN and protect more his private life from the general social interest. This Lakorn even have a very funny scene in EP 2 when ART (acted by Deaw Suriyon) - another actor under Pushy's management - tired to find out if NEXT was gay or straight 😹😹😹

That scene is hilarious but it showed how important that issue was already back in 2014.
The first Lakorn dealing with this issue for a gay couple was "Sai Lub Jub Abb - also known as "SPY I Love You" in 2017, also from Channel 3 Thailand. This Lakorn showed for the first time a boys band group BLUE PRINCES having 2 of their member KEVIN (acted by James Puwadon) and JOONG BAE (acted by Top Sutthirak Tangsutthichai), falling in love with each other while working and living together and then having to keep it a secret from everyone. The highlight of this story was the public coming out of KEVIN both to this mother and to the public in the Final Episode 13. Examples:

Another Series having a secret Boys Love relationship was LOVE LIE HIDE FAKE (MELLO / Channel 3 Thailand - 2018), with the actor and singer MAGIC (acted by BEST Anavil) falling in love with his manager P'GAME (acted by Pop Khamgasem) in a similar way as "Lovely Writer" is going to show us... with them both practicing the lines for a love scene on a BL Drama:

This is probably because it takes me back to one Thai Boys Love scene I will never forget in my life from MY DEAR LOSER: Age of 17 (GMMTV - 2017)

With LOVELY WRITER we get the very first Series having a starring gay couple, going thru this contradiction of fiction vs. private lives... with the lead actor and the writer falling in love and facing the social fandom conflicts about which one they support. That most important social criticism will center this time on the fans that push for their idols to create real couples out of a fake relationship against the true fans which support their idols to be together with their really true loved ones.
