Welcome back to the workbench as we continue Monogram's Heavy Chevy Chevelle build — better known around here as the Buddy's Buddy Build.

Today we finally wrap up the custom-built 396 air cleaner with proper factory decals, bringing the big-block engine one step closer to completion. While the chassis continues its battle against a stubborn twist, we're keeping the build moving forward by prepping interior and suspension components, cleaning up mold lines, filling imperfections, and getting everything ready for paint.

The engine is finally looking the way it should.

The custom air cleaner now has the proper factory-style decals installed, and even after discovering there was an existing 396 kit available, I still think our scratch-built version looks more accurate and realistic.

While the chassis continues to slowly straighten out on the frame table, attention now shifts toward getting the interior, suspension, and body ready for the next major stage of the build.

Right now the plan is:

• Finish interior cleanup and preparation
• Continue straightening the chassis
• Design and print custom wheels
• Begin body preparation for paint
• Match the correct blue paint for the real car

As always... that plan is subject to change the second this kit decides it has other ideas.
