description:the observatory, at an altitude of 425 meters above sea level, lies south of the gilboa landscape road, at the top of an elevated plaza and covered in pergola. a short path, which runs through the garden planted in wild trees of the land of israel "reinforced" with ornical plants, rises to the observatory. mitzpe dovi and eran shamir rise to more than 600 meters, so it is no wonder that it gives one of the most impressive observations in israel. detailed observation boards, engraved on limestone, point to many points in the area, from the mountains of nazareth to gilead in the jordan river.

the observatory is named after father and son. dovi was born in 1947 in kibbutz sde eliyahu. he fought and was wounded in the six-day war (1967). ten years later, as a sergeant in the idf, he was killed in a training accident. eran beno, born in 1974, was killed in 1997 in an operational operation of a paratrooper patrol, where he served as deputy commander of the cruiser.

next to the observatory begins the valley of the springs trail, an almost circular trail that descends from the gilboa to the valley of the springs and from the north to nahal tabor.
