Its the first day of spring! Every year during the month of March i prune my Crape Myrtle Trees. I dead head the old flowers from last year and also thin the trees out. This will promote new growth and is also healthy for the tree. The blooms of a crape myrtle are produced on new growth. I have 5 Crape Myrtle Trees in my yard. they bloom every year from the beginning of July all the way through the middle of September. If you want to add color to your yard with a tree I highly recommend a Crape Myrtle Tree.
