‘Room to room’ warfare in Gaza | ABC News Daily Podcast

A fortnight since the horrifying attack by Hamas in southern Israel, the war is escalating and the civilian death toll is growing. An explosion at a hospital in Gaza shocked the world, fuelling anger and confusion, with both sides blaming each other. All the while, Israeli troops have been waiting on the border ready to invade, in a mission to root out and destroy the militant group, Hamas.

If they go in, the soldiers will face a heavily fortified urban environment, with a complex tunnel network running underground where militants will be hiding and expecting them. Hundreds of hostages taken from Israel to the Palestinian territory are also expected to be held in the tunnels.
