The #1 Storytelling Technique In Public Speaking To Captivate Your Audience

The #1 storytelling technique in public speaking is to make sure the stories have conflicts. If you want to be a powerful and engaging motivational speaker, you must have conflicts in your stories.

Needly to say, without stories, you are nothing but a talking head on stage. Long after the speech, no one will remember your PowerPoint or brilliant thinking. The audience members don't go around mentioning your points.

They will remember your well-told and well-crafted stories. That's why storytelling is so crucial to your presentation. By the way, don't think that you are not a public speaker. When you tell a story to two or three people, that makes you a public speaker.

The format to tell different types of stories is to first think conflict. If you come up with a storytelling idea for your speech and there's no conflict, find another one. Now, it's hard to find a story without some type of conflict.

Simply put, master the skill of story telling. More importantly, master the art of finding the conflicts.

Why do you think some movies become a blockbuster and others fail? It's because those that fail don't have huge conflicts and challenging. The actor or the speaker must overcome huge challenges to make them epic and interesting.

Without conflicts, you have a flat line story. There are no ups and downs; no picks and valleys. Your story must be like a rollercoaster. It must take them up and down.

In conclusion, you can master many storytelling techniques. But, if you overlook the power of conflicts in your stories, you will never make a deep and lasting connection with your audience.
