Despite the strong partisan divide in politics today, and the extremely low approval, and extraordinarily high disapproval ratings American's have with Congress today, what compelled the democrats to reelect Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Despite the disapproval ratings of Americans, and what seemed to be opposition to Nancy Pelosi from other democrats from California, and AOC from the squad.

It is unclear if these members waited to vote during the final call in order to get a better feel for the dispersion of votes, and after they could identify other members who might also vote 'Present', or perhaps offer an alternative to the two primary runners as a form of protest. After the final call, the lead for speaker Pelosi was cemented.
