Can Orthodoxy exist without the Constantinople Patriarchate?

In 2018-19, events took place in World Orthodoxy that could very well lead (and, in fact, have now led) to the global split of the Ecumenical Orthodox Church.

The Patriarchate of Constantinople assures the Orthodox community that it brings only blessings to believers, and its actions are based on ancient canons, which say that this Church has the right to lead other Churches for their benefit.

But is the Patriarch of Constantinople, according to the canons, the head of Orthodoxy and are his actions beneficial to the Church indeed? Besides, how do his actions affect the life of an ordinary Christian?
