First Time in San Francisco? Here's the BEST 2 Days Itinerary

Detailed Itinerary in the description (below)

We only had 2 days in San Francisco, so I planned the most efficient and fun itinerary possible! If you're planning a short trip to SF, here’s everything we did and some extra recs too:

Day 1 – Downtown/ Coastal SF
All you need for transportation this day is a 1-hour Lime pass (~$15)

🛴 Start: SF Caltrain Station
* If you’re coming in from the South Bay, this is probably your stop. From here, it’s a scenic 10–15 min scooter ride north along the Embarcadero. You’ll pass beautiful views of the Bay Bridge and open skies.

🥖 Ferry Building Marketplace
* It’s full of cafes, restaurants, and cute shops. We grabbed a quick bite at Gott’s, and enjoyed SF vibes at the outdoor seating. We then scootered to…

🏙️ Union Square
* Classic downtown shopping district. We didn’t buy anything but explored the area — highlights include the Neiman Marcus building, which is so so so gorgeous. Great for architecture girlies and some AC if it's hot out.

🐉 Chinatown
* We walked here (quick walk from Union Sq / not scooter-friendly). We tried Hi Sweetie Boba, and it was hands-down one of the best boba spots I’ve ever tried. Then we scootered to…

🦀 Pier 39 / Fisherman’s Wharf
* Touristy but fun! Lots of quirky gift shops and food. We actually spent a few hours here. You have to check out the sea lions (there’s usually more than we saw)!

🍜 Dinner
* Unfortunately… we just didn’t have the best experience. I suggest getting clam chowder at Boudin instead.

🍫 Ghirardelli Square / Aquatic Park
* We ended the night with a scenic stroll and dessert. We used the remainder of the 1-hour pass scootering back to the Caltrain station.

➕ Other Day 1 options:
* Alcatraz Ferry Tour
* House of Dim Sum (Chinatown)
* You could visit the Golden Gate Bridge this day too
Day 2 – Chill, Casual, Nature Spots
We drove around by car, but always made sure to leave ZERO items whatsoever. You better do too unless you want your car broken into lol.
Parking info included!

🍳 Mama’s on Washington Square (paid for street parking)
* If I could only have one meal in SF, I would come here (and get the Monte Cristo)! Also, stroll around Washington Square Park, maybe check out the nearby Saints Peter and Paul Church, and Little Italy.

🌺 Lombard Street (free street parking)
* The famous zig-zag street. Honestly prettier when the bushes are trimmed lol but still cool to see. Tip: park at the top bc it’s very steep and crowded at the bottom.

🌁 Golden Gate Bridge from West Bluff Picnic Area (paid parking area)
* One of my top 2 views of the bridge. Super peaceful and a great place for a stroll or picnic. Bring a jacket - it gets windy!

🍶 Rintaro (free parking @ nearby plaza…oops)
* We had a reservation here at 5:30 pm (they book out fast bc they’re on the Michelin Guide). Unlike what the server said🤨, I recommend 3-4 plates for two people.

🌳 Mission Dolores Park (free street parking)
* UGH loveeeee. It’s nice to come here earlier in the day. Sometimes I bring takeout from Mama’s or croissants from Arsicault and picnic here.

➕ Other Day 2 options:
* Arsicault Bakery (famous for croissants)
* City Lights Bookstore (famous bookstore in Little Italy)
* Painted Ladies (we actually stopped by rq before dinner)
* Palace of Fine Arts (gorgeous architecture near Golden Gate Bridge)
* Battery Spencer (best bridge view) + Sausalito (you’ve already crossed the bridge anyway)
