This video is about the speech synthesizer SAM. This was an software only iconic speech synthesizer package of the 80's. And because it was software, many kids came in touch with it through the sharing of software with their classmates and friends.

Unfortunately, this software package was never released for the VIC-20. What was released for the VIC-20 was a series of adventures games that supported the Votrax Type 'n talk speech synthesizer. Now this video is all about making a hardware module based upon the voice of SAM, but with the benefits of the Votrax Type 'n talk. Which means that you can have speech synthesis without loosing system resources.

The video shows how the module is made, how it can be used, and the new and extra features it holds that weren't really possible back in the 80's.
