How-To | Marble Coaster Calligraphy Engraving using a Rotary Tool

1▪︎ Draft your design using a glass marking pencil

2▪︎ Start off using a smaller diamond ball tip to outline and engrave your design (I like to use 1mm)

3▪︎ Wipe off any excess dust during the engraving process so you can visibly see your engraving design

4▪︎ Do not rush your engraving as marble surfaces are very slippery so you could easily slip and make a mistake which could then be hard to undo

5▪︎ Go over your engraved strokes a few times until you feel that your engraving is deep enough (I like to rotate between 1mm and 1.5mm) - this makes it easier to fill in the gold ink later on

6▪︎ Wipe off the excess dust and marked lines using a microfiber cloth (water is optional but it helps to easily remove any pencil and fingermarks)

7▪︎ The most exciting part - fill in the engraved strokes using a gold paint marker (here I'm using my favourite Pen Touch paint marker in fine tip)
