EVERSE: The European Virtual Institute for Research Software Excellence
Presenter: Dr. Elena Breitmoser, Project Manager at the Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre (EPCC) in the University of Edinburgh and current Trustee for the Society of Research Software Engineering (2025-)
Date: March 19, 2026
The EU-funded EVERSE project is building a framework to assess and improve research software quality through automated tools and structured indicators covering dimensions like FAIRness, Maintainability, and Sustainability. At its core are two complementary components: the resqui-Pipeline, which automatically evaluates software repositories against configurable quality indicators and integrates into CI/CD workflows, and DashVERSE, a visual analytics dashboard for interpreting results and tracking quality over time. These tools complement the Research Software Quality Toolkit (RSQKit) knowledge base of best practices and TechRadar, a curated, interactive catalogue of external tools and services designed to facilitate software improvement by empowering users to discover and select appropriate solutions for issues identified in the assessment phase.
The project welcomes community feedback to shape future development - provide quick or detailed feedback on GitHub at https://github.com/EVERSE-ResearchSoftware/tools-feedback/issues and selecting "Quick feedback (1 minute)" or "Detailed Usability Feedback (5-10 minutes)".
