Chinese War Planes in Taiwan’s ADIZ: A Cross-Strait Escalation?
For the past year, Beijing has sent warplanes into Taiwan’s air defense identification zone (ADIZ) on a near-daily basis. On China’s October 1 National Day and in the following days, Beijing sent more than 100 military aircraft into the area, prompting international criticism. Why did Beijing increase the incursions? What do these developments mean for cross-Strait relations and the risks of conflict in the region?
