Storks and sappers: Birds of Spain and the Human Action (Animals Documentary in HD)

Protagonists of "From the Sky" live with us. Or, rather, over us. Storks, kestrels, egrets, seagulls are some of the birds that fly over us every day without us realizing it, but they are a key link in life as we know it.

Extremadura, in the southwest of the Iberian Peninsula, is the setting where our history unfolds. There, we will find the Lesser Kestrel, a small bird of prey that has not only made Extremadura's towns and villages its favorite territory to breed but has even learned to follow the cereal harvesters to capture the insects that flee in their wake. We will meet the storks that have given a surprising and richer meaning to the outdoor works of art of the Vostell museum in the Barruecos nesting on them and how, together with other birds, they have learned to find food and materials to fix their nest in our dumps. Or the formidable black vulture, the largest bird that lives in the Iberian Peninsula and in serious danger of extinction, taking advantage of the casualties that occur in the flocks of sheep that graze in the pastures and mountains of Extremadura.

Montagu's harriers, sappers, bee-eaters, oropendolas, jackdaws, owls, griffon vultures, starlings, swifts, wild pigeons, egrets, gulls or spatulas are some of the other protagonists of From the Sky. So are the enthusiasts who help endangered species, such as the kestrels or the Montagu's harriers, to survive the threats, some of which we generate. Those young people that we have seen born and grown up to be able to join their elders to begin together their winter migration to warmer places. A journey that leads to another extraordinary spectacle: storks, kestrels or starlings gather during the last days of summer in gigantic flocks of thousands of specimens that fly over the skies of Extremadura before their final departure. These young people, next spring, will return to come to the towns and cities of Extremadura to continue -together with us, about us- the cycle of life.
