Brain Hemisphere Synchronization ➤ Music Therapy

Brain hemisphere synchronization is the act of balancing the brain hemispheres to reduce stress and improve emotional well-being.

Individuals who are right-handed typically have an overactive left hemisphere which can result in left brain dominance. This can cause problems for people who process information more concretely than abstractly, because they will be able to focus on one thing at a time and do not multitask well. Left-brain dominance has been linked to depression, anxiety, and addiction. When the two hemispheres of the brain are synchronized, it is much easier for people to think creatively and abstractly.

The act of balancing your hemispheres can lead to increased cognitive abilities, such as enhanced creativity and problem-solving abilities. This is because when both sides of the brain are working together they form what's known as 'whole-brained' thinking which leads to increased creativity and problem solving skills. When they are in sync, they work together to come up with solutions that are novel and innovative.

There is a lot of science involved. The brain hemisphere synchronization is a concept that explores the neurological connection between two hemispheres of the brain, revealing that they are not as separate as previously thought. The left hemisphere of the brain controls the right side of the body, and vice versa. The two hemispheres are connected by a bundle of nerve fibers called ‘corpus callosum’.

When both sides are synchronized, it creates a state called "whole-brain thinking". This means that the person is able to think more creatively because they have access to all their brain's neurons.

Among other dysfunctions, Brain Hemisphere Synchronization music can help with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

The history of hemisphere synchronization dates back to early 20th century when Hans Berger discovered that the human brain generates electrical impulses in asymmetrical patterns that are detectable through electroencephalography (EEG). A few decades later, Margaret Floy Washburn used EEGs to show that humans will show different reactions after listening to different types of music - classical music had more relaxing effects.

This synchronization can be achieved with music, spoken words, and light pulses. Studies had shown the profound effect music can have on your mental state and moods.

Let’s improve our mood, decrease stress levels, boost creativity, improve memory, sharpen our mental function, increase the parasympathetic activity and decrease the sympathetic activity.

Or in other words let’s sit and meditate.
