FAA chief Steve Dickson testifies at House hearing on 5G impact on aviation safety — 2/3/2022
The House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee holds a hearing Thursday on 5G deployment's impact on aviation safety.
During this hearing, members will have an opportunity to discuss the impact that deployment of 5G technologies has on the aviation industry with Federal Aviation Administration Administrator Stephen Dickson and aviation and telecommunications stakeholders, who are scheduled to participate virtually.
Witnesses testifying at the hearing include Steve Dickson, administrator at FAA, Nicholas E. Calio, president and CEO at Airlines for America, Eric Fanning, president and CEO at Aerospace Industries Association, Cathryn Stephens, airport director at Eugene Airport, Joe DePete, president at Air Line Pilots Association, Faye Malarkey Black, president and CEO at Regional Airline Association, James Viola, president and CEO at Helicopter Association International, Meredith Attwell Baker, president and CEO at CTIA, and Dennis Roberson, president and CEO at Roberson and Associates.
The Federal Aviation Administration published notices that detailed the potential impact of new 5G wireless service on aircraft electronics.
The FAA has been in talks with airplane makers, airlines and wireless carriers to reduce the impact of new wireless service.
