Chicago - Street Player (Re-Edit) Columbia Records 1979
"Street Player" is a song by Danny Seraphine & David Wolinski from the eleventh album of the group Chicago. Chicago is an American rock band formed in 1967 in Chicago, Illinois. The self-described "rock and roll band with horns" began as a politically charged, sometimes experimental, rock band and later moved to a predominantly softer sound, generating several hit ballads. The group had a steady stream of hits throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Second only to The Beach Boys in Billboard singles and albums chart success among American bands, Chicago is one of the longest-running and most successful rock groups in history.
According to Billboard, Chicago was the leading US singles charting group during the 1970s. They have sold over 38 million units in the US, with 22 gold, 18 platinum, and 8 multi-platinum albums. Over the course of their career they have had five number-one albums and 21 top-ten singles.
Never forget those aimless years
Street sounds swirling through my mind
Trouble was often in the air
So we fought to forget our despair
'Cause I'm a street player
And I'll play you a song
'Cause you know, my heart and soul
Will carry, carry on
Carry on, carry on, carry on
City life's the only way
Street corners, billiard halls was our home away
Lessons learned still help me today
I'm a street player
Well I've seen it all
Hit men, thieves and many a brawl
But as you see, I still stand tall
It was such a small space in time
Never knew that I would find
A musical path for all to see
Anxiety thru ecstasy
I'm a street player
I'm a street player
I'm a street player
Ooh I'm a street player
I'm a street player
And I've seen it all
Hit men, thieves and many a brawl
But as you see, I still stand tall
It was such a small space in time
I never knew that I would find
A musical path for all to see
Anxiety into ecstasy
Ooh I'm a street player
I'm a street player
I'm a street player
Ooh I'm a street player
