Krazy Kat in "Scents and Nonsense" | 1926 | Rare Kartoon

Released April 1, 1926 by Winkler Pictures. Krazy is portrayed as a male cat with a girlfriend. He gets involved with a dance contest, a bear, a skunk and a pawnbroker.

After George Herriman conceived the Krazy Kat comic strip in 1913, the title character began appearing in animated shorts three years later. From 1916 to 1940, Krazy Kat was featured in 231 films. By the time this Krazy Kat cartoon was made, George Herriman's surrealistic comic strip had changed utterly. Krazy had started out as a female cat in love with a mouse, living in a strange part of the southwest that was later infested by coyotes and roadrunners. By now, Krazy was a Felix the Cat knockoff who, despite the bow, is a tomcat.

Director: William Nolan
Animated by Jack King
Writer: George Herriman (comic strip)
