In this week's guitar technique workout we will focus on developing those legato chops.

As with just about any other kind of physical workout it is important, particularly with this type of guitar technique study, not to over due it.

The workout I demonstrate in this video is a variation of one showed to my by the great Grammy award winning guitarist Scott Tennant.

It involves a bit of a spider crawling type of effect as you go across the fingerboard.

Not only is this guitar technique workout great for frethand endurance, but it is a great coordination exercises as well.

No there are times in this workout that I really pound away on that pinkly. You will actually find that your pinky muscle, when fully developed, is by far the strongest finger on your hand. It just gets a bum rap since it has such a smaller landing surface and is quite a bit shorter than the other fingers.

But just think about, whenever you grab anything with your whole hand you are actually usuing your pinky muscle to do it. It makes up almost half of your palm!

So any good guitar technique workout should really focus on dvelping that pinkly muscle in my opinion.

Be sure you get a good snap off of the string when doing the pull-offs, and try to minizine the movements in the fingers as well. Ideally you will never let your fingertips get much more than a half inch above the string at any time.
