Nearly 2 million protesters flooded the streets of Hong Kong on Sunday, organisers claimed, choking streets for a second straight weekend in a defiant rebuke of the government's proposed extradition law.
Drone footage recorded by Agence France-Presse showed the throng, which flowed into streets alongside main roads originally designated for the march from Victoria Park in Causeway Bay to government headquarters in Admiralty.
Turnout for the July 16, 2019, march was larger than was seen the previous week, delivering a stunning repudiation of Chief Executive Carrie Lam's governance and forcing a public apology out of the leader over her campaign to push the controversial extradition bill through the legislature.
The controversy has also sparked violent clashes between mostly young protesters and police.
